What if there was a way to structure a bonus scheme for business leaders and even potentially for political leaders that provided them with benefits (or costs) based not on the near-term performance of their administrations, but rather on the performance of their organizations long after their administrations are finished? For example, if a CEO's or Board member's compensation was tied to the 20 year performance of their organization, would they manage differently? If political leaders were compensated for the 20 year improvement in key social, environmental and economic indicators, would they govern differently? How can we help to bring about more long-term thinking in business, society and government?
