There are by some estimates more than 3 million weblogs. But most of them get no visibility in search engines. Only a few "A-List" blogs get into the top search engine results for a given topic, while the majority of blogs just don't get noticed. But this posting could solve that. Let's help the smaller blogs get more visibility!
This posting is GoMeme 4.0. So far we have tried 3 earlier variations. Our first test, GoMeme 1.0, spread to nearly 740 blogs in 2.5 days. This new version 4.0 is shorter, simpler, and fits more easily into your blog.
Why are we doing this? We want to help thousands of blogs get more visibility. How does it work? Just follow the instructions below to re-post this meme in your blog and add your URL to the end of the Path List below. As the meme spreads onwards from your blog, so will your URL. Your blog will be part of the pat for everyone downstream from you. That way they can see where they got this message from. Everyone in the Path List below benefits in a similar way as this meme spreads. Try it!
Instructions: Just copy this entire post and paste it into your blog. Then add your URL to the end of the path list below, and pass it on! (Make sure you add your URLs as live links or HTML code to the Path List below.)
Path List
1. Minding the Planet
2. (your URL goes here! But first, please copy this line and move it down to the next line for the next person).
(NOTE: Be sure you paste live links for the Path List or use HTML code.)
Just got back from a birthday party for our one year old grandson.
Yahoo is now showing 46 results instead of 20.
MSN finally picked some up. It is showing 5 references for the search
"Help Make Blogs More Visible!"
Google is still at 179.

Perfect, it must be escaping the enviroments which were exposed to the 3 previous GoMeme strains. I'm suprised its made it so far, I figured most people who stopped by this blog would have been immune. Than again, I may have underestimated the diversity of this blog's traffic. What will be really interesting is when it hits those personal blogs where people mostly discuss their "feelings".

It is still moving slowly but picking up speed.
The first day there were a few, then 30, then 103.
Right now, Google is showing 179 results.
Results 1 - 10 of about 179 for "Help Make Blogs More Visible!".
Yahoo is still at 20 so they are falling down on the "freshness scale" and msn.com has 0 still so they are highly defective for finding new content.
Alexa is up to 73 references.

Well, yes it is a Ponzi scheme. A little reward to people who forward it along would be one link, to the single place where you discovered it. Links to your entire upline, to borrow the perfectly appropriate term from multilevel marketing, makes it a Ponzi scheme.
Untold riches for the first person in line, a hope of profit for the second, not enough people left on the planet to give anything to the nth? That's a Ponzi scheme.

That's interesting, I just checked a few gomeme infected blog's hit counters: apparently the keywords "GoMeme" and "help make blogs more visible" are refering tons of visitors their way.

Ha ha, well it's not a ponzi scheme, it's just a way to reward people who forward something for helping it along. As for Google not ranking blogs, no way -- they can't afford to ignore blogs. That would create an opening for a different search engine to beat them, and they are not that stupid. Besides, the bloggers would be very angry. Won't happen.

Man, you're really getting meme happy. And you make it sound like a Ponzi or pyramid scheme or whatever.
I wonder if this might have a backlash effect, causing Google to finally change its pageranking system to exclude blogs, as some have been clamoring for.
